A Soft, Stress-Free Holiday Season – My Hosting Routine

December gets busy — parties, kids are home, shopping, work, travel, all the things. It’s like a race to the end of the year and then…it’s all over.

But this year? I’m choosing a soft holiday season: slower moments, intentional hosting, and making memories that I stayed present in instead of it becoming a blur.

Here are 5 hosting lessons I’ve learned over time that make the season beautiful and a little less stressful:

1. Simple Tables, Elevated Vibes

My personal favorite part…. Candles, greenery or florals, and a beautiful place setting.

That’s it. Holiday elegance doesn’t require a full production — just intention. Your guests will feel it in the details.

2. Potluck… but Make It Organized

Everyone brings a dish from a prearranged menu that you create. And they bring it…in a foil pan! Now hear me out on this…I’m a bougie chafer and warmer plates type of girl but when it comes to more informal, relaxed events, I bring out the foil pans. Because who wants to wash all of those pans?

However, if you are using chafers and/or platters, set them out the night before with a sticky note of what food item will go in each one. Doing this will allow you to make sure you have enough and have a predesignated place for each item on your menu.

Also, have a set of styrofoam or foil to-go containers to make it easier for your guests to take home leftovers without you sacrificing your last bunch of good containers that actually have lids.

3. A 30-Minute Reset Before Guests Arrive

Lights dimmed. Candles lit. Music on. A quick sweep. Bathroom tidy. Dishwasher empty. (You’ll thank me later.)

Not perfect — just inviting.

4. A “Holiday Spark” Moment

Every gathering gets one small moment that feels extra special

  • A signature drink
  •  Personalized place cards
  •  A mini dessert bar

It’s the little touches of delight that create moments and  feel like magic. These are things that your guests will remember.

5. Give Yourself Permission to Rest

Hosting is beautiful act of love… and it’s a lot. From picking the theme and selecting guests,  to creating invitations and menus, there’s quite a bit that happens before your first guest even arrives.

So rest without guilt.

Remember… Cozy home Soft holidays only.

Here’s to a Holiday Season filled with warmth, community, and the kind of joy you can feel in your heart.

Unapologetically living the dream life I deserve — and so should you.
